4 Words Worth Of Positive Living Power

4 Words Worth Of
Positive Living Power

Sitting down with one of my former students proved to be rewarding for me because he shared with me how the following words positively effected his life:

"Maximum Impact...Minimal Touch."

The Principle I Shared

Stay with me here because my intention is to lead you through a short series of action steps.

Steps of action that will assist you in puttinginto practice the "Maximum Impact/Minimal Touch" principle for making a positive impact upon those who lie within your sphere of influence.

HOW DO I DEFINE "MAXIMUM IMPACT"?

I would like you to think about maximum impact this way:

"The greatest help I can give to inspire, encourage or assist someone in becoming the person *I know* they can become -- in a way that doesn't kill me!"

LET'S BEGIN

List three people you know -- but not just anyone.

These folks...
  • Must already listen to you -- at least to some degree.
  • You must enjoy them
  • And, you must enjoy either helping them or growing together with them in some area of life.
Write down their names:

1.
2.
3.

A QUESTION TO ASK

"How could I touch one or more of these people in a small way?"

And remember, keep these concepts in mind while reflecting on the answer to your question:
  • Inspiration
  • Encouragement
  • Assistance
You could praise them for something done well, write a note, spend a moment helping them accomplish a task, or stop and listen for a while.

However, allow me to add a few more ingredients to this unique recipe for influencing others.

Four ingredients to be exact.

1. Fun
2. Meaningful
3. Believable
4. Simple

The actions you decide to take should be fun for you, meaningful to you, believable in your eyes, and simple to accomplish.

MAY THE BRAINSTORMING BEGIN

List three ideas that fall within the guidelines just presented to you.

1.
2.
3.

TAKE A SECOND LOOK

Review your ideas.

Which one of the three causes you the greatest measure of personal delight?

Circle it. (Yes, right now!)

SET A DATE

The action you just circled: when could it take place?

Month:
Day:

THE PROVERBIAL BALL NOW RESIDES IN YOUR COURT

You know what you *could* do.

You know *when* you could do it.

Will you pick up the ball and run with it or not?

Yes or No?

Circle your answer.

I will assume you answered "Yes."

WHAT JUST TOOK PLACE?

During our short time together you decided to craft a plan for the purpose of inspiring, encouraging or assisting someone you care about.

You designed a fun, meaningful, believable, and simple plan.

And that, my friend, defines in very practical terms the meaning of -->

"Maximum Impact....Minimal Touch"

Yours for a day filled with beautiful moments in time

Speaking Of Friendship

Speaking Of Friendship
©Lee Wise All rights reserved

Friends are those special people who...

Listen when we need them
more than they need us,

Pick up where we left off
even though we've been more off than on,

Are brave enough to challenge us when needed
yet sensitive enough to reserve the hard stuff
for when it's not so hard,

And don't need us to say anything
when saying anything might be saying too much.

We laugh with them,
Cry with them,
Poke fun at them,

Talk politics with them
instead of at them,

Share about God
and who we think he is or isn't,

Discuss the senseless acts of terrorism
and sigh at the fits of a "terrible two year old."

We visit them in hospitals,
and reflect thanks when they visit us.

By their actions they reassure us
that all people aren't jerks,
everybody doesn't hate us,

And that it's okay to be human
without letting being human get out of hand!

We love them, our friends.
And if we believe in God as I do...

We thank God for them.

~*~*~*~
Reflecting. Responding.
  • Thinking the topic of friendship, how would I respond to a son, daughter or younger person who asked me: "What advice would you give me on how to make and keep good friends: you know, like really good friends?"
  • If you had to list the top 3 qualities of a lasting friendship, what would they be?
  • Have you written down anything in a journal in the past regarding the subject of "being a friend" or the ups and downs of friendship that it would be good for you to hunt down and review now?
  • What about friendships in business -- any insights there you could share with others if you were asked?
May you and those you love experience a meaningful week,

Simple Thoughts On Being A Dad

Simple Thoughts On Being A Dad

True, this is a brief article, but in my mind an important one.  Of course, you might expect me to say that if you have followed me at all over the years: the family is a high priority for me.

In actuality, creating this brief note came about as a result of my taking a look at a variety of the movies I was checking out from what I could call "the back office" of Simple Truths (yes, I am an affiliate in case you are wondering).  I played the video you  see below my quote, and I can say one thing for certain: it held my attention! Actually, I think it is excellent.

Therefore...

I decided create this brief article on the subject of being a good father.  The quote I created around 2003.  And, yes, I feel the same today!

It is an incredible privilege and responsibility being a father.

  • Enjoy the quote and video.
  • Share this post if you like it!
  • And, of course, feel free to make any comments.

Being A Dad
© Lee Wise

Knowing...

The pleasure and the pain
The good and the not-so-good

The glad times and the sad times
And everything else in between

Only to find yourself saying the
same thing again and again over
the years:

"I love being a dad."
"I really do... love being a dad."

If You Are A Dad, I Would Say... Definitely Watch This Movie!

"Bringing It Home" As They Say...

Reflecting on the brief presentation... powerful wouldn't you say?  And with that in mind, we could ask or comment...

  • How am I doing as a dad on the "time scale" of life with my family: should be, could be better or hardly ever?
  • Realizing that I need to spend a great deal of time on other things, am making sure that I am sharing quality moments -- moments where I am being careful to encourage, uplift, carefully listen, use what I would call "the ministry of touch," and otherwise let the family know of my deep love and concern for them?
